What is Lahiri Ayanamsa?

Ayanamsa is the angular difference between the Tropical and Sidereal zodiacs, growing over time due to the precession of the equinoxes. The Lahiri Ayanamsa — also called Chitrapaksha Ayanamsa — is the official standard adopted by the Government of India and is used in most Vedic astrology calculations. It increases by roughly 50.29 arc-seconds per year.
