Varun – the Observational Power: Varun has been considered the controller of the world. According to Vedas, no other devta has his dev element as big as that of Varun. Varun has been worshipped the most in Vedas. But with passage of mind beliefs and forms kept on changing. Varun has two attendants, Pushpdant and Asur.
A special thing about Varun, about this zone of 11.250, about this particular location is that – in all the religious places in the world, the idols of gods and goddesses have been placed in the location of Varun only. All the churches, that you see, have a deviation of 5.15º (5.12º, to be more precise) from the magnetic North. Why so?
The reason is that to place the idol on this location the orientation of the building has been changed slightly. In all the ancient temples that I have seen in India, whosoever be the god, they have been placed in the location of Varun.
