Vastu Purush Mandala having 45 Devtas and Asuras.
Shosha – the Dryer: The energy field located in the North-West direction is meant to dry up the things. Shosha is that power which dries up. He has been considered as a demon in Vedas.
Rudra is the dev who makes one weep; the one who makes water flow – whether it flows from eyes (tears) or it flows in a river. Shosha has been considered as his attendant who dries up that water.
Many times in life, aperson gets depressed. He finds himself unable to face difficult situations. Whatever efforts he makes prove insufficient and ineffective to produce the desired results as per his expectations. In such a situation, he starts weeping but then it stops automatically once his mind gets relaxed.
That stopping of weeping happens because of the power of Shosha. He is the one who accomplishes the process of weeping (detoxification) which got started to protect one from depression or intense emotions. That is why he has been defined as an assistant of Rudra – the process of flow of water initiated by Rudra is completed by Shosha.
